If you’ve been reading our blog for a while, you probably already know that my team loves getting creative. You may also know that there’s a cool integration between Salesforce and IFTTT (aka. “If This Then That”) that connects Salesforce with the Internet of Things (IoT). Previous examples we’ve shared include posting escalated Cases to Slack and tracking your FitBit data in Salesforce, but it can do even more than that!
Among the Triggers and Actions available in the Salesforce channel are two pretty nifty ones: a “Custom Salesforce Trigger” and the ability to insert a new record. Custom Salesforce triggers are fired upon creation of a record in the IFTTT Event object available in the IFTTT Salesforce Package. You can create these manually, with the Process Builder, or a Trigger, meaning you can design super custom logic to fire an IFTTT event. For example, fire a trigger whenever a subscribed report is activated – letting you get a text message when you’ve hit your sales numbers for the month. And you can insert a new record with IFTTT to any object with up to five fields – letting you tell your Amazon Echo to create a new Case in Salesforce when your team needs some support. The possibilities are absolutely endless, so give it a try today!
