Tip of the Week – Coming soon: Custom Navigation Bar for Salesforce Lightning!

If you are a Salesforce user, you probably have a lot of pages to navigate every day. And if you are like most users of Salesforce Classic, you have probably customized your navigation bar to give you easy access to your most commonly used apps and screens. Unfortunately for anyone whose company already has, or will soon make the switch from Classic to Lightning, that custom navigation bar you spent so much time on will not carry over to Lightning … Until Spring that is!

Coming as part of the Spring ‘18 release, Lightning users will gain the long awaited ability to customize their navigation. Stay tuned to the CloudMyBiz blog over the next few months for a more details on making these time saving adjustments. In the meantime, Salesforce admins have provided a simple but effective workaround. The Favorites tool! Simply add the pages you want to save to your Favorites list, and access them later from the drop down menu at the top of your screen.

Tip of the Week – Salesforce Search Function Updates and Tricks

Tip of the Week – Salesforce Search Function Updates and Tricks

From large to small, every release of Salesforce, (Spring, Summer and Winter) includes changes and tweaks to many different features. As one of the small changes in this year’s Winter ‘18 release, the search function has become smarter and faster in this year’s. The search changes are seemingly simple, so you might not notice them if you don’t know what to look for.

First, the instant results that appear under the search box now have a spell check function, helping you enter the correct search keywords, even if you aren’t the best at spelling. Following that is a trio of features that can make scanning and using search results a breeze. You can resize results columns, toggle the text results to wrap, and easily sort your search results. So now that you know, pull up that search bar and check out these handy new upgrades. Unfortunately, these improved search features will not be standard for everyone. As of now, these improved search functions are only taking effect on instances of Salesforce Lightning.

Tip of the Week – Connecting Salesforce to External Services (Preview)

Tip of the Week – Connecting Salesforce to External Services (Preview)

The External Services feature was announced as part of the Spring ‘17 Release of Salesforce. This product allows you to easily set up connections between your Salesforce org and – you guessed it! – external services of your choosing. You can access the services via a custom flow and all the necessary data will be imported directly into Salesforce.

Practically speaking, what does this mean for you as a Salesforce user? First of all, you can connect to third party services to enhance your Salesforce org, such as credit checks or online purchases. Don’t worry if you aren’t a master programmer; Salesforce has built a setup wizard to guide you through each step. Unfortunately, External Services is still in Beta. Once released, this feature will be very useful to anyone using Salesforce. Stay tuned to our blog for coverage and updates on External Services and other exciting new features.
