Tip of the Week – Be heard! Make announcements in Salesforce Chatter

Chatter Announcements

A couple weeks ago, we shared a few dos and don’ts for working with Chatter. Many of our readers love the value Salesforce Chatter brings to their organizations. Chatter is a powerful tool for promoting user adoption and collaboration between team members, but when you have an important announcement to make, it can get lost quickly in an active Chatter feed, making email the fallback. Well, with Spring ’14, all your troubles are gone!

With the release of Spring ’14 came Chatter Announcements, a feature which allows you to make announcements in a Chatter feed and have them hang around for a while so no one missing the important news. Got an upcoming office party? Is IT going to be doing some important updates? Are you offering a special monthly bonus for your Sales Reps? Do you want to remind everyone that the office is going to be closed for an upcoming holiday? Make a Chatter Announcement, and no one will be left in the dark. Be heard and start using Chatter Announcements today!

Tip of the Week – Ready, set, integrate with Salesforce to Salesforce

Salesforce offers thousands of out-of-the-box tools which can make your day-to-day life easier. From automatically contacting clients to updating fields while you work on other things to sending you daily reports on your stats, Salesforce can really simplify your life. But if you want to integrate it with other systems, that requires tons of custom development, hours (or days) of UAT, and can take weeks to get up and running. Have you ever wished you could integrate with another system in minutes just like all the other cool tools in Salesforce? Well, if the other system is also Salesforce, you can!

Whether you want to share accounts and contacts with business partners, pass customer support cases to vendors and get real-time updates, or strategically collaborate on opportunities with another company, Salesforce to Salesforce (S2S for those in the biz) is an amazingly powerful tool. With clicks, not code, you can quickly connect your Salesforce org to another and immediately start receiving shared information. Don’t worry, you control exactly what you share and what you don’t, so you never have to worry about data security. And if you need to turn off the integration, that’s just a couple clicks too.

Tip of the Week – Salesforce help is just a #hashtag away on Twitter

Have you ever gotten totally stuck with some problem in Salesforce and didn’t know where to go? Don’t worry, it happens to even the best users, admins, and even developers! Google is a great resource when you need help quick, but often times the answers you get don’t quite meet your needs and then you’re back where you started. Well, did you know you can leverage the power of social media to get help on Twitter?

There are tons of Salesforce experts out there, and when you need their help, all you have to do is type a quick note in Twitter, drop #askforce on the end, and then keep an eye on your notifications. Be patient, sometimes it can take a little bit before someone gets back to you, but when they do, you’ll be getting expert advice from someone who will walk you through the problem in 120 characters or less. If you’re not already on Twitter, sign up and start asking questions today!
