Tip of the Week – The Lightning Experience is taking the Salesforce world by storm

Lightning Experience

If you’re a Salesforce junkie like me, this has been an exciting week. Dreamforce is on the horizon, and that means the whole community is already atwitter with excitement. Building on that, Salesforce launched the Dreamforce ’15 app for iOS and Android, which brings the agenda, event info, and the Dreamforce Chatter experience to the palm of your hand. But Salesforce wasn’t done. They told us a little while back that the system would be getting a facelift, and this week’s webcast didn’t disappoint!

The new Lightning Experience is taking the Salesforce world by storm by completely reimagining the Salesforce user interface. It’s looking pretty awesome! Salesforce1 has been making waves for a couple years now, and like with Windows 10, the new desktop interface unifies the Salesforce experience across devices and platforms. New features and significant improvements on old favorites are show these upgrades aren’t just skin deep. And there’s clearly more to come as they expand the Salesforce Lightning Experience beyond the Sales Cloud. Get on the path and start learning about the Lightning Experience on Trailhead, and let us know what you think!

Tip of the Week – Salesforce Wave: Analytics for the rest of us

Tip of the Week – Salesforce Wave: Analytics for the rest of us

Charts

If you were stuck at home or missed Marc Benioff’s keynote address at Dreamforce ’14 on Monday, let me introduce you to the new Salesforce Analytics Cloud called Wave. Wave is being heralded as “analytics for the rest of us,” and with good reason. Until now, implementing robust business intelligence systems has been a huge hassle. Costly systems, teams of experts, and days, weeks, or even months to get the data you need to make important decisions. With Salesforce Wave, your team gets the data they need in record time, even from mobile. Wave even lets you trigger Workflow actions from reports to alert your team if conversion rates are dropping or sales are at record highs.

Now, business users can instantly access and easily analyze billions of rows of data themselves…. In addition, business analysts can take a more strategic approach to delivering insights by creating mash-ups of relevant third-party data sources in a single dashboard…. Wave also enables social collaboration. As business users derive insights, dashboards can be shared via Salesforce Chatter and new workflows and tasks can be triggered.

Like Salesforce’s last big release, Salesforce1, Wave is all about empowering users to go mobile. Read more about Salesforce Wave and get ready for the analytics revolution coming to Salesforce!

Tip of the Week – See your Salesforce1 app without leaving your desk

Tip of the Week – See your Salesforce1 app without leaving your desk

Salesforce1 for Desktop

Unless you’ve been hiding in a hole for the last few months, you know that Salesforce1 is here, and it promises to bring Salesforce to a whole new level with enhanced mobile functionality. Salesforce1 is an awesome app, but using it means pushing back from your keyboard and pulling out your smartphone. If you’re a developer, you know how challenging it can be to have to jump between devices to see the results of your hard work in action. You’re killing your cell phone battery while simultaneously opening up a world of distractions. If you’re an admin or user and trying to help someone on your team who is out in the field find something in their Salesforce1 app, you have the same problem. Or maybe you’ve got a touchscreen laptop and just want a more mobile environment to make a couple quick updates and post to Chatter. Wouldn’t it be great if you could see your Salesforce1 in action without ever leaving your computer? You can!

Viewing Salesforce1 from your computer is as easy as pie. All you need to do is navigate to the app by adding /one/one.app to the end of your Salesforce URL (it should look something like this: https://cs18.salesforce.com/one/one.app). If you’re having any troubles with this, or need more information on mimicking a mobile browser or tips on customizing this further, check out Jesse Altman’s Working with Salesforce1 on the Desktop. For more on Salesforce1, check out our previous post with some useful links, and don’t forget to submit your awesome mobile app on Twitter with the hashtag #salesforce1selfie to enter for a chance to win a trip to Dreamforce 2014!
