Tip of the Week – Customizing Tabs in Lightning

Tip of the Week – Customizing Tabs in Lightning

There has been quite a bit of buzz around Salesforce Lightning lately and of course, a solid push for everyone to migrate. Most companies are planning on making the switch, it’s just a matter of when. Though Lightning has a great many benefits and upgrades, transitioning will always have its challenges. Luckily, these changes are not insurmountable, and with a little time and research, easy to fix.

In that vein, let’s take a look at a fundamental topic: adding, moving, and customizing tabs on your Salesforce Lightning Home Page. When it comes to adding or removing tabs, the process is fairly simple, just accessed from a different location than in Classic.  Next, if you would like to move around the order of the tabs, all you have to do is dig a little deeper into settings and you can set up your page just the way you like it. Stay tuned in future weeks for more tips and tricks relating to Salesforce and the Lightning Experience.

Tip of the Week – Salesforce Enterprise Edition now includes the Sales Console

Tip of the Week – Salesforce Enterprise Edition now includes the Sales Console

If you’ve been following our blog or the latest Salesforce news, you will know that Salesforce recently updated their pricing, and with the updated pricing, has added a number of features to each of the Editions. If you’re new to Salesforce, this means you’re paying a bit more for significantly more value. If you’re an existing customer, your current price should stand until the end of your contract, but you’ll still get these new features.

One of the most exciting updates comes with the Enterprise Edition. Customers on the Sales Cloud will now have access to a customizable Sales Console at no extra cost! And if you’re on the Service Cloud, you’ll get a customizable Service Console! If you’ve not played with the Salesforce Console, check out the video below to start to get an idea about how the Console can streamline your whole team’s process. If you’re on the Enterprise Edition, now the Console is just a few clicks away!

Tip of the Week – Salesforce’s new “Lightning Editions” and update pricing are on the way

Tip of the Week – Salesforce’s new “Lightning Editions” and update pricing are on the way

Continuing in the theme of reimagining the products and platform with Lightning in mind, last month, Salesforce announced the new “Lightning Editions” to the world. The new packages include more features for each edition, and with these upgrades come price increases. The base price under the new Lightning model will be $75/user/month for Professional Edition, $150 for Enterprise, and $300 for Unlimited. Existing Salesforce customers will keep their pricing through the course of their contracts, but get all upgrades. So what does it mean for you?

If you’re already happy with your current Salesforce edition, you’re going to be thrilled with the upgrades. Professional orgs are finally getting Workflow, custom Profiles, and more, and the Enterprise and Unlimited editions are getting some nifty new features, including Partial Sandboxes. If you’ve been considering upgrading, your needs may be met with the new features, so take a close look at them and talk to your Account Executive for more details. If you do decide you want to upgrade, or if you’re new to Salesforce, now’s the time to jump! You still have a little time to lock in Classic prices for Lightning Edition features!

App of the Week – Currency is easy in Salesforce with the Currency Conversion Tool

Currency Conversion Tool

In the ever expanding global market of the 21st Century, it’s important to be able to do business with your customers wherever they may be. Salesforce knows this, and has built-in multi-currency support. The problem is, sometimes you don’t need an Opportunity, you don’t want to create and save records, wait for page loads, change settings. You just need to see a price in a different currency. “You told me the price in USD, what’s it going to cost me in Euros?” The team at Salesforce Labs gets you, and they’ve created the awesome Currency Conversion Tool!

Convert currencies on the go. Enter an amount and specify the currency, then with one click convert that to all currencies set up in your org. Use this component in the Lightning App Builder to quickly add it to your apps.

The Currency Conversion Tool is free, mobile friendly, and ready to work with any currencies configured in your org. Give it a try today!

Tip of the Week – The Lightning Experience is taking the Salesforce world by storm

Lightning Experience

If you’re a Salesforce junkie like me, this has been an exciting week. Dreamforce is on the horizon, and that means the whole community is already atwitter with excitement. Building on that, Salesforce launched the Dreamforce ’15 app for iOS and Android, which brings the agenda, event info, and the Dreamforce Chatter experience to the palm of your hand. But Salesforce wasn’t done. They told us a little while back that the system would be getting a facelift, and this week’s webcast didn’t disappoint!

The new Lightning Experience is taking the Salesforce world by storm by completely reimagining the Salesforce user interface. It’s looking pretty awesome! Salesforce1 has been making waves for a couple years now, and like with Windows 10, the new desktop interface unifies the Salesforce experience across devices and platforms. New features and significant improvements on old favorites are show these upgrades aren’t just skin deep. And there’s clearly more to come as they expand the Salesforce Lightning Experience beyond the Sales Cloud. Get on the path and start learning about the Lightning Experience on Trailhead, and let us know what you think!
